I don’t think it is especially. I’m English, but I understand French and Japanese culture and can empathise with them better than that of English culture (Yes, even the nasty bits!!)

I guess it’s not hypocritical. When you say you prefer Japanese culture, do you mean Japanese culture TODAY, or Japanese culture five centuries ago? The reason I ask, I find ancient Japanese culture fascinating, especially the samuria. I just can’t seem to get enough of the ancient culture and architecture.
I wouldn’t want to live in Japan today, it’s overcrowded and seems odd to me.
